The first community-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will be held at the Empire Arts Theater Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. The event is hosted by UND's Era Bell Thompson Multicultural Center in partnership with the University of Minnesota, Crookston, the Grand Forks Air Force Base, UND's Black Student Association, and others.
Transportation will be provided for UMC students from the Crookston campus to the event in Grand Forks. Please be prepared to leave campus by 10 a.m. Free lunch will be provided for all attendees.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an opportunity for our community to honor Dr. King's legacy. Events include:
11 a.m. – Unity Walk (Rally at the steps of the Grand Forks Central High School, 115 North 4th Street) and walk to the Empire Arts Theater)
11:30 a.m. – Arrive at the Empire Arts Theater
Noon – Martin Luther King Jr. Program for the Northern Valley Region
1 p.m. – Community Social (Refreshments will be served)
