Red River Valley Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - downtown Grand Forks, N.D.

The fourth annual community-wide Red River Valley Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at the Empire Arts Theater Monday, January 18, 2016. The event is hosted by the University of North Dakota in partnership with the University of Minnesota Crookston and Northland Community and Technical College. UMC students, faculty, and staff as well as all residents of the region are encouraged and welcome to attend.
Transportation will be provided for UMC students from the Crookston campus to the event in Grand Forks. Boarding of the bus will begin at 9:15 a.m. from the north end of the Sargeant Student Center. Please be prepared to leave campus at Sargeant Student Center by 9:30 a.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an opportunity for our community to honor Dr. King's legacy. Events include:
10:30 a.m. – Unity Walk (Rally at the steps of the Grand Forks Central High School, 115 North 4th Street) and walk to the Empire Arts Theater)
10:45 to 11 a.m. – Arrive at the Empire Arts Theater for hot beverages
11 a.m. – Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Program
Noon to 1 p.m. - Fellowship and Food
1 p.m. - departure from Empire Theater to UMC
1:30 to 2:30 p.m. – Community service projects in Grand Forks
2;30 to 4:30 p.m. - Community service projects in Crookston at the Carnegie Building
The public is invited to the whole day or just the events that fit your schedule. Your participation will result in a successful series of events.
